Hoping you can help…

At ODDjob we have a passion for small business! They’re the stuff of entrepreneurship, going it alone, beating your own track, making your mark on the world and there’s nothing more gratifying than success!

It’s also very hard work and the path is littered with traps for the unwary. So, I am writing a series of short articles to give food for thought as you start your own business.

There are loads of resources on the web that go into great detail about what you should and should not do in business which I am not looking to replicate. Instead the aim is to take a personal, inside approach by sharing experiences, mistakes and triumphs of people who are already in business.

Topics will stretch from the initial formulation of a business idea, through actually making it happen, dealing with bad debt & cash-flow to the family & lifestyle implications of being a business owner plus other key topics in-between.

So, where do you come in? If you run a small business (or, know someone who does) would you like to share your experiences, good and bad, in a way that will benefit new businesses by giving them the inside story? Alternatively, if you are thinking of starting your own business: What topics would be helpful to you?

This can be done anonymously if you so wish but it would be great if I could quote you in the article and give a link to your website, Facebook page or, twitter account so you benefit from the publicity.

The articles will be published on my site: http://www.oddjobcommercial.co.uk as well as being promoted widely on social media sites and in person. Viewers will be able to post comments there so the idea is to get people to interact and it would be great if you do the same.

The ‘Be Remarkable’ series takes away the morning task of what to wear and instills the idea that what you wear to look your best can come naturally to you, if you base it on a simple code. You can take the first step on the route to being remarkable simply by being yourself, or the best version of yourself that you can possibly be.Maggi Toner-Edgar is a professional fashion designer/stylist, writer and director of Creative Style. Maggi worked for Vogue Magazine and ran a fashion design manufacturer company in the eighties and since then she has trained hundreds of textile and fashion design degree students.

This is a style book with as difference, it gives you well understood style tips to suit your figure type, like a recipe to follow and links to websites to offer ideas for the new you. It also makes a thoughtful gift to a female friend who is fabulous and does not yet know it – as it acts to confirm their personal choices, which always gives self-confidence. Although this first book in the series is aimed at women there is an important message that everyone needs to hear. It has a chapter which encourages people to appreciate their own inner beauty, health and vitality, encouraging them to love their own body and resist changing it in an invasive fashion. It acts as a catalyst for change and aims to help you reframe the way you view yourself and your body, in and out of your clothes.

I use my NLP and doctoral research to help rid people of unwanted behaviour patterns such as eating disorders, shopping addictions, body dysmorphia over use of cosmetic surgery or simply giving people a confidence boost!
